A Visit to Oxford Motorcars

Like many great things in RI, the best are hidden away. Secret treasures that only reveal themselves to the select few who seek them out via their passion and dedication. Oxford Motorcars is one such example.

In a nondescript industrial building on a busy street in East Providence sits a collection of vintage cars, many of them racers, that defies belief. Take a look at the pictures below and you'll be blown away, as I certainly was, at the amazing gems hidden around us.

Today's visit was the first open house for Oxford in this new location. They generously supplied victuals from our ubiquitous doughnut chain and lunch with the most impressive sandwich I've seen in ages - a full six feet long, no exaggeration. Chris, Jeremy, Jake, Cat, Joe, Luis and many of the other fine staff were on hand to show off their wares. And also to pass on some valuable knowledge - in this case how to do wheel bearings and brakes on a vintage MGA racer with an MGB front end and how to change the water pump on her sister race car. I couldn't stay for all of it, unfortunately, but seeing the wheel bearing work will be very helpful to me quite soon when I have to get into that bit on my cars.

A huge thanks to the Oxford folks for such a stellar array of beauties on display and wonderful hospitality. And a hat tip to Eric K. for sharing the info about the event. Oxford specializes in English cars - MGs, Austins, Rovers, Bentleys, etc. but has a phenomenal selection of collector cars of many makes, models, and ages. If you're in the market, you shouldn't miss a look around here.

You probably would have taken a photograph of it but were there any Lancia 037's or other Group B cars?
