Thanks for some Garage Day fun!

Thanks to everyone who could make it this past Sunday to the first annual (maybe since there were no casualties...) Garage Day! I was expecting to hang out on couches and watch some racing, but the network TV gods were not smiling on me...and the kids were having so much fun that I just had to join them. And drag most of you into it too! Hopefully you enjoyed a day of being relatively carefree and letting kids be kids (of all ages). That was the goal, anyway.

For anyone who couldn't make it this year, hopefully you had a blast wherever you were too! We had some racing on the screen at least with some in-car Indy 500 racing at times, which wasn't so bad really. Just not enough noise as I didn't have the presence of mind to unmute the computer. We had an XBox set up in the barn with its own screen so the kids could bang on that a bit. And three little electric-powered cars. And a minibike that saw much use. And a gas kid racing kart which demanded a little more seriousness - and some fixing when I broke the string for the pull starter! Thanks to Dave S, we got it fixed up and back into the games!

The luckiest of us got to test out the mods to the WRX that should make it the king of the hill at ADSI. The 911 got out for a short stint too. Dave brought his BMW S1000RR that is a ridiculously nice bike. There isn't really a car analogy for it, which is odd for me because I can usually translate all of life into some sort of automotive analogy.

The kids who were less than 30 seemed to have a good time with toys, squirt guns (reminds me to check the basement for flooding since the water was seemingly left running for quite a while...), brownies, and other unhealthy (and some healthy) treats.

Despite the dangers of power tools, all manner of vehicles, bikes, scooters, playing in the street, beer, wine and all other manner of fun, I didn't see any real injuries and the bandaid stash seems to be intact!

The party ended promptly at 10:30pm after rolling through some takeout sushi and Chinese and the children...and some parents... were completely cooked. Can't get much better than that.

So thanks again for the fun. Hopefully we'll do something similar next year if not before!!

Porsche: there is no substitute. But there are upstarts. Let the battle begin on 6-1-14 at high noon, but if they do a tag-team competition and you can stay long enough to do it Sterling, I want you to be my wingman.
We had a blast. The only trouble is that the kids now think ALL parties must include battery powered race cars, xboxes, and racing (or movies) on the big screen.
One solution would be to do the 1/2 day at ADSI but bring the kids, and then finish the day with a similar type get together.
